Running Shoes

Just so we're clear, I hate running. Sure, I LOVE the feeling you get while you are in the groove. I love how it feels afterwards. For the most part though, I hate it. I get sweaty, out of breath and feel like I want to pass out/punch someone in the face. Speaking of punching someone, I want to punch those tiny girls that run in spandex. They have been running for miles and not only have not sweat one drop, but actually have the nerve to smile. Are you kidding me? I wonder what I must look like to others while I run. I look like a sweaty, frowny beast. That's what. Don't worry ladies, I only have hate for the skinny spandex runners because I am so very jealous and want to be you someday. Despite my hatred of running, I want to prove to myself that I can do it. That I can become a runner. Even if it is only to do several 5K's throughout the year for charity, I want to do it!

Shox

Today is going to be a great day! I feel hopeful. I am subbing at a high school at 11, working at the preschool at 4 and then going to the Elton John/Billy Joel concert!

I started the day by running/walking 5K. This was my best time of 50 minutes + a few seconds. Still slow, but I will get there. Also, part of this 5K included walking up the sledding hill (a massive and pretty steep hill that people sled down in the winter). GO ME!

I also managed to avoid the massive piles of horse poop all over the road leading to the park. Yes, we live by a place that breeds horses. They are beautiful, but just so you know: horse poop definitely smells much worse than dog poop. Especially when you step in it. I should know.

I am working all of the rest of the day so I will have a slim-fast for breakfast, one for lunch, one snack of green grapes and one 100-calorie trail mix pack. Dinner tonight should be stir fry with whole grain rice. Hopefully I will have time to make this quick meal before we leave for the concert!

Ugly Sandals

You know the ones. You don't love them or hate them. They are comfy and worn but they sure don't make you feel pretty. That is how I feel about myself today.

Okay...it is only Wednesday. I have been doing good with the diet and exercise since Sunday. It has happened AGAIN. I made a bad decision at lunch. I do this ALL THE TIME. Why do I do really well for a few days and then mess up? I recently started blogging, but I have been dieting pretty much my entire life and I ALWAYS do this.

I am not going to let this get me down. I am going to remember that tomorrow is a new day, but I must find out why I choose to sabotage myself. I have healthy food in the pantry. I also have cellulite on my ass. You would think that these would be two really great reasons to stop being so ridiculous about food! UGH. I am so mad at myself.

Nike Shox

Wednesday: Walk Hooser (the puggle) for 20 minutes, stair stepper for 5 minutes (to get the heart pumping), Strength Training biceps and triceps for 20 minutes

Nike Shox

It is time to get moving!

Here have been my workouts for this week:

Sunday: Run/walk a 5k. I have this great tool: the Nike+ on my Ipod. It calculates time and distance for you! I set it to 5K and get moving! Let's be honest. This was a lot more walking than it was running, but I will get there!

Monday: Eliptical for 30 minutes, strength training: Triceps, Biceps and shoulders

Tuesday: Run/Walk 5K

Wednesday: better get my butt out there and work it!

Red Peep Toe Pumps

Hello gorgeous! I bet you are wondering what on Earth this blog will be about. It is yet another journey to get skinny, get healthy and feel..well...gorgeous. I had a moment of realization a while ago and ever since that moment, I have wanted to do something about it. I figure that even if no one reads this blog, actually writing it will increase the likelihood that I will, in fact, reduce the size of my booty. And let me tell you that this is no small feat. I need to lose about 70 pounds. Well, part of that amount is for vanity. So for everyone who has ever struggled with weight and body image, please read and struggle along with me. I can assure you that there will be a lot of laughs along the way!
Facts about me:
1. My favorite shoes in the entire world are red peep toe pumps. In fact, I wore them under my wedding dress. I got married to the love of my life on New Year's Eve.
2. These shoes gave me my "aha" moment: I have more shoes than I could ever know what to do with. In fact, when I moved into our home (my first time living with a boy) my husband saw one laundry basket overflowing with shoes and said, "Really Jen?" The problem was that he didn't see the other 3 large overflowing baskets with more shoes! I realized then why I love them so much: you can always fit into shoes! They can make you feel gorgeous! You can have the same adorable and trendy pair of shoes as someone that wears a size 2! IT IS TIME...time to change this. I want to wear CLOTHES that are trendy and that make me feel beautiful. And let me tell you, this doesn't always happen in my size.
3. Yes, I wore the most adorable pair of red peep toe pumps on my wedding day. I did feel absolutely beautiful that day. Now, every time I look at those pictures, I get angry. Why didn't I lose the weight that I had wanted to lose? Yeah, I lost about 25 pounds that year (and a few of those pounds came back with a fabulous honeymoon and the realization that I didn't have to try to fit into a wedding dress) but I still look huge in all of my wedding pictures. Our future children are going to see those pictures. I am ashamed.....but NO MORE!
4. For someone my size, you probably wouldn't think that I have read almost every single diet book in America. No, really. I have some awfully great tips and noticed a lot of consistencies among what I read. It is time to stop reading and start doing! Won't you join me? Or at least encourage me?

Goals:
1. Exercise every single day
2. Drink rougly 1/2 my body weight in ounces of water each day (with lemon)
3. Cut out the white stuff (flour, sugar) and replace it with whole grain, etc.
4. Reduce portion sizes and eat a protein with every meal and snack
5. Stop munching in front of the television (one of my favorite things to do as I am a reality tv junkie...it really is like crack) or at the very least, munch on fruit and veggies instead!
6. Replace one meal with a protein shake
7. Run a 5K and then move my way up all the way to a mini-marathon (must get my thighs to stop rubbing together first)
8. Love the way that I look and feel
9. Walk/run/bike/eliptical for at least 3 miles/day for at least 4 days/week.
10. Have tank top/strapless dress arms!
